Robert deMayo (Cowell, psychology, ’78) has been elected president of the California Psychological Association, one of the largest professional associations representing psychologists in the nation.

Got game: UCSC student holds astonishing college basketball scoring record
In 1986, a 5-foot-11 junior from UC Santa Cruz became the NCAA’s lead scorer. John Saintignon beat out bigger and better-known players like UCLA’s Reggie Miller and All-American Len Bias. He edged out hundreds of Division I and Division II players, and became the only Banana Slug before or since to hold the title.

UCSC event to reflect on cultural tolerance in wake of tragic shooting at Sikh Temple
Last August, a lone gunman opened fire at a Sikh Temple in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, killing six people and wounding four others. On November 15, UCSC will present a panel discussion and dinner to explore what can be learned from the Wisconsin tragedy.
