Carlos Noreña, a popular UCSC faculty member for more than 25 years, died on July 4 at the age of 85. Noreña, a professor of philosophy when he retired in 1996, came to UCSC in its third year of existence, in 1967. He served as provost of Stevenson College from 1991 to 1994. His most popular course…

In Memoriam: George Malloch
George Malloch Jr., who served as a trustee of the UC Santa Cruz Foundation from 1990 to 2002, died on May 21 in Germany. A resident of Brookdale in the Santa Cruz Mountains, Mr. Malloch was president of the foundation from 1997-1999.
