Responding to increased parking demand
Fall quarter saw a record-breaking demand for both parking permits and parking spaces on our campus. While some areas have improved since then (such as capacity at the East Remote lot), others have not. I’d like to provide you with a parking update, and efforts we’re making to improve the situation.

In the wake of President Trump’s repeal this week of federal protections for transgender students in public schools, we are proud to state that our campus commitment to transgender members of our community is absolutely unchanged.

Winter rains causing widespread hardships
This winter is setting rainfall records—and trying the patience of many of us who have been impacted by road closures, power outages, flooding, downed trees, and other hazards.

UPDATE: Seeking community assistance in water damage / 594 PC – Vandalism (Case #17-172)
With the community’s assistance, the UC Santa Cruz Police Department was able to identify the two people suspected of turning on an emergency shower in Sinsheimer Laboratories, causing damage. We appreciate the community’s help. Please report any suspicious activities or crime to the UC Santa Cruz Police Department Dispatch Center at 831-459-2231, ext 1.

Donation by rugby alumnus lights up Lower East Field
The lights turned on this month, thanks to a generous donation by rugby alumnus George Kraw (1971), who played mostly “lock” and “break-away” on the first rugby team in 1967.

Seeking community assistance in water damage / 594 PC – Vandalism (Case #17-172)
The UC Santa Cruz Police Department is seeking the community’s assistance in identifying two men who may have turned on an emergency shower on the second floor of Sinsheimer Laboratories, causing damage.
