Campus ranks No. 1 among Peace Corps’ top volunteer-producing Hispanic-serving institutions
Forty-two alumni are serving in the Peace Corps. More than 800 UCSC alumni have traveled abroad to serve as volunteers with the Peace Corps, which was founded four years before the campus opened in 1965.

UC Santa Cruz receives gift to establish University Librarian Presidential Chair
UC Santa Cruz has received a $500,000 gift from The Helen and Will Webster Foundation, plus matching funds from the UC Regents, to establish a $1 million Richard L. Press University Librarian Presidential Chair.

In Memoriam: Joseph F. Bunnett
Professor Emeritus Joseph F. Bunnett, a long-time member of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at UC Santa Cruz, passed away on May 22.

The UC Santa Cruz Police Department is seeking the community’s help in finding two suspects who burglarized a car shortly after 3 p.m. on May 20 in the north remote parking lot.
