UC to begin implementation of new $15 an hour minimum wage policy
Under the new UC Fair Wage/Fair Work Plan, all employees hired to work at least 20 hours a week will be paid a minimum of $13 an hour starting Thursday, Oct. 1. That minimum will increase to $14 an hour on Oct. 1, 2016, and to $15 an hour on Oct. 1, 2017.

Community Crime Bulletin: Mail theft on campus
The UC Santa Cruz Police Department has received multiple reports of mail theft from residents in Family Student Housing (FSH) in the past couple weeks.

Staff Mentorship Program applications deadline extended
The application for the Staff Mentorship Program has been extended to Wednesday, September 30. The pilot program is a volunteer effort that will pair more experienced UC Santa Cruz staff with newer staff who are seeking professional development mentorship.

The City of Santa Cruz Water Department is planning to replace a water main valve, a major project that will begin on Tuesday, September 22.

This week we are preparing to welcome more than 8,500 residential students to our community. University Housing will open their doors for occupancy beginning Thursday, September 17, and student Move In will continue through Sunday, September 20.

Dean of the Arts Division named president of University of the Arts
We write to share news with you that the University of the Arts has announced David Yager as its next president and CEO. David, who has served our campus as dean of the Division of Arts since 2009, will assume this new post in Philadelphia on January 15.
