  • Joint Statement on Pan-African Research Fellowships

    On June 2, the Black Student Union at UC Santa Cruz wrote an open letter entitled “The Unrelenting Anti-Blackness of 2020” to advocate for transformational change that addresses anti-Blackness and inequity on the UCSC campus. Too often, our campus has responded to student advocacy with deflection, making meaningful change difficult to achieve.

  • What fall will look like at the UCSC campus

    Our campus is taking an extremely conservative tack, among the most conservative in the country. Of the roughly 1,500 courses we will offer this quarter, only six will be held on campus, comprising just 54 students. The rest will be offered remotely, with students logging in to classes from wherever they are located.

  • Wildfire in Wilder Ranch

    CalFire and Santa Cruz fire agencies are fighting a wildfire that is about a mile north of campus in Wilder Ranch. There is no threat to campus at this time. However, people should be prepared in the event that changes.

    The 2020 UC Women’s Initiative for Professional Development (UC WI) Program is now accepting nominations. UC WI is a unique professional development program designed to help women identified professionals advance in their UC careers.

  • Post-fire building assessment now complete

    Effective immediately all facilities on the residential campus can resume their pre-evacuation status. The only activities that may resume are those that had been approved prior to the Aug. 20 evacuation through the COVID-19 resumption approval process.

  • Interim Public Health Policy (Policy BAS-0011)

    The campus community’s response to the CZU Lightning Fire demonstrated how our individual actions collectively enable us to accomplish a monumental task to support the health and safety of the Banana Slug community.
