UC Santa Cruz & HFFD: Breaking records and feeding hope, once again
The community donated enough to provide healthy food to 846 people all year long!
Greetings, UC Santa Cruz Students, Faculty, and Staff.
The Staff Advisory Board is thrilled to share with you that our extended UC Santa Cruz community has broken our own record of generosity again – for the sixth year in a row! The donations were:
- $24,588 by students
- $34,390 by faculty, staff, and the larger UC Santa Cruz community
- $100,000 by Tibi McCann and Eric Jensen, who doubled their typical matching gift
- $150,000 by an anonymous donor, who was inspired by Tibi and Eric’s generosity
That’s a total of $308,978, which means the UC Santa Cruz team donated enough to provide healthy food to 846 people all year long! If that sounds impossible, you can visit this page to read how SHFB can feed 1 person for 1 day with $1.
Imagine how many people we could help if each of us extended our reach to those not directly involved with UC Santa Cruz! You could…
- …ask the employer of a household member to match what you give
- …invite your spiritual community to participate
- …inspire neighborhood kids to start up a lemonade stand
- …do anything that brings you joy and helps others
I look forward to what we can accomplish together next year!
As always, if you or someone you know is in need of food assistance, you can find resources on campus and off campus. In the same way that food goes through seasons, each of us also goes through different seasons of giving and receiving. Be sure to fully participate in whatever season you’re in now.
Thank you for feeding hope,
SAB’s Holiday Food & Fund Drive Team
