Dear Campus Community,

I am pleased to share the news that the agreements between the University of California and the United Auto Workers (UAW) on contracts for Graduate Student Researchers and Academic Student Employees have been ratified by bargaining unit members. The university’s Postdoctoral Scholars and Academic Researchers, who are also represented by the UAW, ratified their own contracts earlier this month.

The attached press release from the University of California shares more information about the latest agreements.

The UAW strike has been challenging for many people in our campus community, particularly our undergraduates. I appreciate everyone’s patience while UC and the UAW negotiated. Our Graduate Student Researchers, Academic Student Employees, Postdoctoral Scholars and Academic Researchers are vital contributors to campus, and we are very pleased to have the contracts in place, allowing us to move forward on our mission of teaching, research and public service.

Sincerely,
Lori
