Campus Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor recruitment underway

The CPEVC is a crucially important position on our campus, serving as our chief academic officer.

Dear Campus Community,

I am pleased to announce that the national recruitment for Campus Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor is now underway. The CPEVC is a crucially important position on our campus, serving as our chief academic officer.

The CPEVC oversees the academic divisions, coordinates the development of academic programs in close coordination with faculty and our Academic Senate, oversees the allocation of resources to the academic enterprise, and works with the CFO and budget office to manage the allocation of campus resources in alignment with strategic priorities.

The executive search firm Witt Kieffer is conducting the recruitment, which will close Jan. 8. A 13-member Search Advisory Committee made up of campus stakeholders is assisting in the process. The committee membership is posted on the Campus Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor recruitment website.

Finalist interviews are expected to take place Feb. 9-20. Each finalist will visit campus and give both a town-hall-style talk on their vision for the Office of the Campus Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor, and an academic talk. Those participating in the search process will have the opportunity to provide feedback through a survey.

My thanks to Paul Koch, Distinguished Professor of Earth and Planetary Sciences and former Dean of Physical and Biological Sciences, who has served as interim Campus Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor since July. He will continue to do so until our new CPEVC is selected and takes up the position.

More information on the search can be found on the Campus Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor recruitment website. If you have specific questions not addressed on the site, please email Senior Human Resources Leader Lauren Morgan at llmorgan@ucsc.edu.

The Campus Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor is a key position on our campus. I look forward to your participation and input in this important search.

Sincerely,
Cindy
