Student Employment Recognition Awards Photos

UCSC honored nearly 200 of its student employees for outstanding service in a ceremony at the West Field House. Approximately 450 people, including the students, their parents, friends, and work supervisors, attended the May 1 Student Employment Recognition Awards ceremony, which was sponsored by the Career Center and the Division of Student Affairs.

Chancellor Greenwood congratulates Keith Curry, who received an award for his work at the Office of Admissions. Curry was one of three student speakers at the ceremony; Miguel Canales of the Career Center and Jessica Vodak of University Advancement also delivered speeches.

Tim Goncharoff, operations manager for Housing, Dining, and Child Care Services (right), is pictured with Steven Bean, a graduate student in education who was honored for his work as a residential assistant in Graduate Student Housing. Each of the 200 award winners received a certificate of appreciation at the ceremony and were given cash awards by the offices where they worked. In all, the students received more than $37,000.

The students who received awards were nominated by their supervisors based on outstanding teamwork, mentorship, or creative problem-solving skills; for making important contributions to the university and its departments; for special or unique skills; or for using work practices that enhance productivity, morale, or initiative. They were required to be in good academic standing.
