Kuumbwa Jazz Center launches new half price series for students
Beginning on June 11, the internationally recognized Kuumbwa Jazz Center in downtown Santa Cruz will begin a new monthly half-price series for students.

Beginning on June 11, the internationally recognized Kuumbwa Jazz Center in downtown Santa Cruz will begin a new monthly half-price series for students.
The venue’s “1/2 Price Night” kicks off on Thursday, June 11, at 9 p.m. with jazz bassist and composer Christian McBride. Additional 1/2 Price Night shows will be added each month, with the Mads Tolling Quartet scheduled for Thursday, July 30.
The UCSC Jazz Ensembles and Big Band are slated to perform a “Tribute to the Duke” at Kuumbwa on Thursday, May 21, at 7 p.m. UCSC jazz instructors Dr. Rob Klevan and Stan Poplin direct the ensembles.
The program is a musical tribute to the great American composer, pianist, and bandleader Duke Ellington.
