Parking and traffic impacts anticipated during move-in (Sept. 17 – 20)

Fall move-in will impact campus parking and traffic Sept. 17–20. The campus community should plan for alternate parking and road closures.

Dear UCSC Community,

As we gear up for this year’s 2026 Fall Move-In we want to provide you with additional details concerning parking arrangements and traffic impacts that will be occurring near colleges/communities. From Thursday, September 17 to Sunday, September 20 the following parking lots will be utilized for student check-in:

  • East Remote Lot 104
  • Performing Arts Lot 126
  • West Remote Lot 127

During this time, staff and faculty are asked to park in alternative locations (see maps). The following road closures will also be in place from Thursday, September 17 to Sunday, September 20, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Closed roads are restricted to university and emergency vehicles only.

  • McHenry Rd. closed between Steinhart Rd. and Meyer Dr.
  • Steinhart Rd. closed from Lot 101 entrance to Kerr Rd.
  • Porter-Kresge Road will be one-way northbound from Lot 147 to Heller Dr. 
  • John R. Lewis Road will be one-way northbound from McLaughlin Dr. to College Nine Rd. 

Staff are encouraged to consider alternate parking locations such as the East Remote Overflow, Core West Parking Structure, West Remote (spaces located in the rear of the lot), Lot 101, Lot 103A, Lot 111A, Lot 128, Lot 139A, Lot 150, and Lot 156 during move-in. For additional details regarding traffic patterns, access, and restricted parking lots, please check the maps below (maps are subject to change up to each move-in date).

Full Move-In details and schedules for specific colleges/communities can be found on the Move-In website. Interested in volunteering? Please sign up online by selecting your preferred time slot(s) no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 14.
