UPDATE: Canvas status and instructional continuity resources
Although Instructure has restored service, our campus is following specific security guidance from the UC Office of the President.
Dear UCSC faculty and graduate students,
Following our communication on May 7, Canvas remains offline at our campus. Although Instructure has restored service, our campus is following specific security guidance from the UC Office of the President. We are currently investigating the environment to ensure all vulnerabilities are resolved before granting campus-wide access.
We recognize that sudden changes to instruction are disruptive and that teaching without Canvas presents challenges. We also understand it may be confusing to see Canvas reporting its services as “available” while our campus remains locked out; this is because we are currently holding access at the university level to ensure our data is secure.
To temporarily support you, the Teaching and Learning Center has launched a dedicated resource for maintaining instructional continuity while Canvas is offline, which we encourage you to consult. While this guide may not address every specific concern, please submit any additional questions to the ITS Service Desk (contact below) for further assistance.
The UC Office of the President is providing ongoing updates for the community on this page. We are monitoring the situation closely and will notify our campus as soon as new information becomes available.
If you have any questions, please reach out to ITS by opening an online support ticket, by calling 831–459–4357, or join extended Instructional Technology Office Hours for instructors.
