Dear Campus Community,

I am pleased to announce that the national recruitment for Vice Provost and Dean of Undergraduate Education is now underway. The Vice Provost and Dean of Undergraduate Education (VPDUE) provides campuswide leadership in sustaining and enhancing the quality of undergraduate academic experience at UC Santa Cruz.

We have retained the executive search firm DSG Storbeck Search to conduct the recruitment. The nine-member Search Advisory Committee, made up of campus stakeholders, is chaired by Dean of the Baskin School of Engineering Alexander Wolf. The group will assist in the selection process, soliciting applications from nominees, reviewing applications, and ultimately recommending a short list of finalists. The committee membership is posted on the CPEVC website recruitment page.

Stakeholder meetings were held the week of January 12, 2026, to gather input on divisional needs and opportunities, and the desired qualifications for the position. Input was also submitted through a stakeholder survey.

Finalist interviews are expected to take place April 27 – May 8 and will be open to the campus community. Each finalist will visit campus and give a town-hall-style talk on their vision for the Division of Undergraduate Education and a subject-matter talk. Attendees of finalist presentations will have the opportunity to provide feedback through a survey.

If you have specific questions not addressed on the site, please email Senior Human Resources Leader Lauren Morgan at llmorgan@ucsc.edu.

I look forward to your participation and input in this important search.

Sincerely,

Paul
