Stakeholder meetings scheduled for dean of social sciences search

The meetings will be held in early December, before the search for UC Santa Cruz’s next dean of Social Sciences launches.

Dear Campus Community,

I am pleased to announce that we will soon launch a national recruitment for the Dean of Social Sciences.

We have retained the executive search firm WittKieffer to conduct the recruitment, which will formally launch January 12, 2026. An 11-member Search Advisory Committee made up of campus stakeholders will be chaired by Dean of Humanities Jasmine Alinder. The group will assist in the selection process, soliciting applications from nominees, reviewing applications and ultimately recommending a short list of finalists. The committee membership is posted on the CPEVC website recruitment page.

Public stakeholder meetings will be held Tuesday, December 2 and Wednesday, December 3 to gather input on divisional needs and opportunities, and on the desired qualifications for the position. If you are unable to attend the Zoom meetings, you can provide input through a stakeholder survey. Meeting and survey specifics are posted on the recruitment website

If you have specific questions not addressed on the site, please email Senior Human Resources Leader Lauren Morgan at llmorgan@ucsc.edu.

I look forward to your participation and input in this important search.

Sincerely,

Paul

Interim Campus Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor
