Notice of open comment period: policy on International Travel
The purpose of this proposed new policy is to implement practices designed to reduce personal and institutional risk while furthering the university’s mission.
Dear Campus Community,
The Division of Finance, Operations, and Administration is proposing a new policy on International Travel. While travelers have a significant responsibility for their own health, safety, and security, the university also has a duty of care to support the health, safety, and security of students and employees while undertaking the university’s mission. This responsibility is particularly acute when it comes to obligations to our students, whether studying, traveling with a university staff or faculty member, or conducting research. The purpose of this policy is to implement practices designed to reduce personal and institutional risk while furthering the university’s mission. The key provisions of this proposed policy include:
- Definitions for high-risk travel and very high-risk travel.
- A requirement for undergraduate students to register all university-related international travel.
- In certain circumstances, a requirement for academic appointees, faculty, and staff to register University-related international travel.
Feedback on the proposed policy may be submitted to pco@ucsc.edu through December 17, 2025.
Sincerely,
Ed
Ed Reiskin
Vice Chancellor for Finance, Operations, and Administration
