UCSC Enrollment Management unit expanding

To reflect the central role enrollment plays in the university’s academic mission and long-term financial sustainability, Enrollment Management will report directly to the campus provost and executive vice chancellor.

Dear Campus Community,

As part of a strategic effort to strengthen UC Santa Cruz’s approach to enrollment and student achievement, several organizational changes will take effect November 1.

Enrollment Management (EM) will be led by Timetra Hampton, who will serve as associate vice chancellor. Hampton, currently interim assistant vice chancellor of undergraduate enrollment, has advanced enrollment strategy at UC Santa Cruz through her work on key campus and systemwide committees and operational innovations. She created a Visitor Experience Team, implemented a data-driven outreach strategy that boosted fall 2024 applications by 8 percent, and revamped the university’s Admit Day, tripling participation and driving a 44 percent increase in yield since 2023. Timetra holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Child/Human Development, both from California State University, San Bernardino.

To reflect the central role enrollment plays in UC Santa Cruz’s academic mission and long-term financial sustainability, EM will report directly to the campus provost and executive vice chancellor (CPEVC).

In addition to Undergraduate Admissions and the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships, EM’s portfolio will expand to include the Registrar’s Office and the Degree Progress unit. Aligning these offices under EM ensures oversight of the full student lifecycle, from admission through degree completion. This change will strengthen coordination among admissions, student records, and enrollment processes, while also improving data integration, streamlining operations, and enhancing accountability.

The organizational change also allows the Division of Undergraduate Education (UE) to focus fully on the undergraduate academic experience. It reinvigorates UE’s portfolio, which includes Campus Advising; Summer Session; the UC Santa Cruz Colleges, critical to our first-year experience and opportunities for research and honors engagement; the Academic Integrity Office; Global Engagement; and the Educational Partnership Center, all reporting to the vice provost and dean of undergraduate education (VPDUE).

The VPDUE provides leadership in cross-functional and cross-campus efforts to improve outcomes, including strengthening the first-year experience, expanding undergraduate research opportunities, and advancing equity-minded approaches that support first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented students. The VPDUE works closely with the Academic Senate, academic divisions, and the Division of Student Affairs and Success to move this work forward.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to shaping this reorganization for their continued commitment to student success.

Sincerely,
Paul
