Dear Campus Community,

Beginning in fall 2025, UC Santa Cruz’s 10 residential colleges will transition to a co-location model for academic advising. Each pair of colleges will share one advising hub, bringing professional and peer advising staff together in one office to provide consistent, student-centered support.

What students can expect

College academic advisors work with students from admission through graduation to explore academic interests and potential majors, define goals, understand university requirements and milestones, and connect with campus resources. Advisors are available online Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m., and in person at each of the five advising hubs as follows:

  • Office hub hours: Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–3 p.m., with professional advisors and trained peer advisors available in person and remotely.
  • Drop-by support hours: 10 a.m.–12 p.m. and 1–3 p.m. daily, offering first-come, first-served drop-by support facilitated by peers and supported by professional staff.
  • Scheduled appointments: Additional in-person and remote advising may be scheduled through Slug Success.

The new model enhances advising coverage, giving each student access to a larger team of advisors and peers. While each hub serves a broader student population, this structure expands availability, connects students with a wider network of advising expertise, and makes it easier to access the right resources when needed.

This transition reflects the university’s commitment to strengthening advising as an essential part of the UC Santa Cruz experience. It also supports staff collaboration, reinforces the value of college-based advising, and deepens the role of advising in student success.
