Encouraging remote work during commencement and call for volunteers

Wherever it is operationally feasible, we encourage working from home. Some employees are needed on campus and are not able to perform their work remotely. Check with your manager or supervisor to discuss your options.

Dear faculty and staff,

Expect traffic impacts on campus during commencement ceremonies, Friday, June 13–Monday, June 16, and with residence halls and apartments closing on Friday, June 13.

Wherever it is operationally feasible, we encourage working from home. Some employees are needed on campus and are not able to perform their work remotely. Check with your manager or supervisor to discuss your options.

Please expect traffic impacts near the East Remote Lot and East Field areas during Commencement activities from June 13 to June 16. As an alternative route, we recommend using Coolidge Drive to avoid delays

Those who need to come to campus are encouraged to use alternatives to driving, including carpooling, biking, or public transit. Campus affiliates can use the METRO service on UCSC routes fare-free between Friday, June 13, and Monday, June 16. Routes, fare information, and schedules are available here .

Parking enforcement will remain in effect during all commencement ceremonies and celebrations, and move-out. Contact TAPS if you have any questions about transportation.

Want to come to campus and volunteer your time at commencement? Sign up to volunteer for one (or more!) times here. Once you select a time, you will receive a confirmation email and a calendar invite to join an optional virtual volunteer orientation on Monday, June 9, from 3–4 p.m. The virtual orientation will be recorded and shared with all volunteers.

Thank you for your support as we work to make commencement a memorable experience and ensure a smooth move-out process for the campus community.
