DivData Upgrade on the Horizon
Next year, the current version of DivData is moving to a campus standard code base.
DivData is a mission-critical web application supporting academic personnel actions at UC Santa Cruz. Faculty, staff, and academic leadership use it to collect and record academic personnel information that facilitates academic career tracking and the appointment and advancement of faculty and other academic appointees. Next year, the current version of DivData is moving to a campus standard code base.
The updated application will launch in winter quarter 2026, improving responsiveness and accessibility while ensuring supportability and continued data security compliance.
DivData has undergone several significant enhancements since launching in 2010. In 2023, the Academic Personnel Office (APO) and Information Technology Services (ITS) began planning for the next iteration. Vice Provost for Academic Affairs Herbie Lee and Assistant Vice Provost for Academic Personnel Grace McClintock formed a project advisory committee with cross-campus membership including faculty and staff. Throughout development, APO and ITS solicited input and feedback from the project advisory committee and representatives from the Academic Senate’s Committee on Academic Personnel (CAP).
This year’s May 1 Call for Academic Personnel Actions included information about the DivData project. Those undergoing call-related reviews in academic year 2025-26 will begin in the current version of DivData, with decisions issued in the upgraded version. Beginning this summer and into the fall, campus stakeholders will test the new system, and a transition plan and training materials will be developed. Further details will be shared with academic units in fall quarter.
