Good morning, UCSC Staff!

We have two important dates coming up. Our Spring Forum with Chancellor Larive is on Thursday, April 24, and our Staff Advisory Board (SBA) Membership Nominations for new members are open until Friday, April 18.

SAB’s Virtual Spring Forum
The Staff Advisory Board enthusiastically invites you to attend the Spring Forum with Chancellor Larive on Thursday, April 24, 2025.

The purpose of the SAB-supported forums is to provide staff with an opportunity to ask questions of campus leadership. Our upcoming Spring Forum will be with Chancellor Cindy Larive. We are grateful to continue to provide the opportunity to make your voices heard. Mark your calendars for:

In order to allow for as many questions as possible to be addressed within the limited time, we are soliciting questions ahead of time via this Google form.  The form is the only way to submit questions and will be available for the time leading up to the forum through the end of the event. (Note: though we are not collecting identifying information, you must be signed into your UCSC email account to access the form.) For the best chance of having your question addressed in the forum, we encourage you to submit your questions before the event, rather than during the event.

The forum will be recorded and available after the event, along with recordings of other past events, on the SAB website. We look forward to seeing you. If you have further concerns or questions, please reach out to the Staff Advisory Board at any time at ucscSAB@ucsc.edu

SAB New Member Self-Nominations
Are you interested in serving our campus community and giving back to your fellow staff members? Consider joining the Staff Advisory Board!

The purpose of the UCSC Staff Advisory Board is to support the welfare and diversity of the staff. The board does this by serving in an advisory capacity to our campus leadership and other campus parties or organizations. Our advocacy promotes better communication and relations among the staff and our larger campus community.

From now until Friday, April 18, the SAB is accepting self-nominations for seven open spots on the board. The open seats will have terms from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2028.

We will verify that each nominee meets the eligibility criteria, according to the SAB bylaws. To be eligible for board membership, nominees must:

  • Be policy governed (non-represented)
  • Either be past probation in a Career/Partial-Year Career appointment or be in a Contract appointment with at least six months served in that contract.

Contracted staff employees or other employees for whom serving a full term is not possible may serve a shorter term.

Since there is a time commitment to serving on the SAB (highly variable from week to week depending on meetings and events, averaging 1-3 hours per week), it is strongly recommended that nominees have the full support of their supervisor.

Please fill out this form to submit your nomination.

After the window for nominations closes, elections will be held in May.

If you have any questions, please reach out to the Staff Advisory Board at ucscSAB@ucsc.edu.

Sincerely,
Your Staff Advisory Board
