UC Santa Cruz recognized for excellence in undergraduate teaching, social mobility in latest U.S. News & World Report rankings

The University of California, Santa Cruz has once again earned national recognition for its commitment to high-quality undergraduate education and advancing social mobility.

In the U.S. News & World Report rankings released today, UC Santa Cruz is No. 12 for undergraduate teaching among national public universities, highlighting the campus's dedication to innovative and impactful teaching practices. The university also secured the No. 18 spot for social mobility among national public universities, reflecting a commitment to providing educational access and opportunities to students from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds.

"We are proud to see UC Santa Cruz recognized for our efforts to create an inclusive and supportive academic environment that offers excellence in teaching and learning, and provides students with tools and resources for success after graduation," said Chancellor Cynthia Larive. "These rankings are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our faculty, staff, and students."

UC Santa Cruz was also again ranked among the top 50 public universities in the United States (No. 42) and placed among the top 100 public and private universities (No. 84). Collectively, these rankings reflect a campus that provides students with a high quality educational experience that includes transformational hands-on learning opportunities and conducts high-impact research that addresses some of the world’s leading challenges, especially in climate change, human health, and social equity.
