The University of California Office of the President invites comments on the final review revisions to the Presidential Policy Use of Externally Supplied Medications in UC Outpatient and Clinic Settings. The key concepts include:
- Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) is a federal law that requires UC to be able to track and trace all medications given to patients.
- Untraceable medications do not comply with DSCSA and can lead to wastage of medication and gaps in patient care.
- This policy bans the use of medications that are supplied outside of our contracted distributors.
- A provision for rare exceptions for first-time patient education and in-patient assistance programs.
The draft policy is available for viewing online.
Comments may be sent to the Policy Coordination Office at pco@ucsc.edu by the close of business on November 01, 2024.
