Campus community urged to take precautions amid rise in COVID-19 cases

Dear UCSC community,

Recently, there has been an increase in COVID-19 cases in California, highlighting the importance of continuing preventive measures. To help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses: cover your coughs and sneezes, wash or sanitize your hands frequently, and clean commonly touched surfaces. Consider wearing a mask, especially indoors or in crowded spaces.

If you experience symptoms such as fever or cough, it's crucial to get tested promptly. Stay home and avoid contact with others for at least 24 hours and until your symptoms improve and you are fever-free without the use of fever-reducing medication. When you resume your activities, take additional precautions.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provide detailed guidance on preventive strategies.

For more information, visit:

COVID-19 tests are available for purchase from both healthcare kiosks or the Student Health Center Pharmacy

Following these recommendations can significantly reduce the risk of transmission and help promote a healthy campus.

We thank you, in advance, for doing your part to mitigate the spread of viruses and promote community wellness.

In community,

John Bollard, Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Health and Wellness and Chief Well-being Officer
