Last year UC Santa Cruz participated in the Spirit of Watsonville 4th of July Parade where a vibrant team of alumni, staff and leaders handed out Sammy Slug stickers, and greeted the crowds. Adrienne Harrell led the "dance" walking routine in the parade where approximately 15,000 people - including staff, alumni, families and friends - showed their UC Santa Cruz pride as they cheered us on.
We will be marching in the parade again this year, and would like to have you join us. We want to have an even larger showing for the parade itself.
This year's parade theme is "Star Spangled Everything" which leaves us with options to creatively represent this along with wearing the UC Santa Cruz “Our Voices Will Define the Century” t-shirt.
We want to take this year's parade up a notch by having a vintage car leading our group, and Sammy Slug greeting the crowd. There will definitely be lively music, dance-walking, and festive cheering along the way.
