Timetra Hampton has been appointed as UC Santa Cruz’s new Director of Undergraduate Admissions. She will begin on May 1.
Timetra’s journey into higher education began back in 2008 when she served as an academic coordinator for Upward Bound programs. She went on to serve as an admissions counselor at Ashford University before joining the University of California, Davis as an admissions advisor, holistic review lead reader and athletics team leader.
Timetra ascended to the senior assistant director and athletics specialist at UC Berkeley, where she was instrumental in developing highly effective training and implementation of admissions athletics policies and began working with many campus and University of California partners across the system in support of campus and University goals.
When the opportunity arose to have even more impact, she joined UC Santa Cruz as the Associate Director of Admissions, Evaluation. She provided critical leadership amongst Admissions, Enrollment Management and the Academic Senate Committee on Admissions and Financial Aid in the development of admissions policies, strategies and procedures all aimed at ensuring an equitable review of first-year and transfer applications, removing barriers, providing exceptional support for students and positioning the campus to meet our enrollment goals.
She currently serves as the Senior Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions at the University of California, Berkeley where she is responsible for the timely and equitable review of 148,000 first year and transfer applications and processing transcripts and clearing 8,500 new undergraduates. During her time there, she has enhanced all areas within her scope of responsibility and contributed greatly to the leadership team. She led the implementation of the new finalization/clearing procedures and new first-year reading training in a new platform.
Timetra will use her expertise and passion to support staff on effective recruitment strategies to build a highly qualified and diverse applicant pool of first year and transfer students, transfer articulation, international evaluation, equitable evaluation, leveraging technology to make staff and student lives easier, ensuring highly effective policy implementation through detailed procedures and training, enhance engagement with underrepresented students and use her well-developed skills in galvanizing internal and external partners to support mission driven enrollment management strategies.
Reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Enrollment Management within the Division of Undergraduate Education, Timetra will provide vision, collaboration, and coordination of undergraduate admissions programs and processes serving diverse and academically prepared students and their families and supporters. She will provide leadership and accountability for highly effective and collaborative plans and strategies for achieving campus enrollment goals for new undergraduate students, our future alumni.
The Director is a key campus enrollment management leader providing strategic planning and direction, resource management, systems effectiveness and integration, staff development, and continuity planning for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
