Rebecca Ropers will serve as a 2023 American Council on Education Fellow

To: UC Santa Cruz Community

From: Lori Kletzer, Campus Provost & Executive Vice Chancellor

I am pleased to announce that Rebecca Ropers will serve as a 2023 ACE Fellow in the Office of Campus Provost & Executive Vice Chancellor. She is the vice provost for Faculty and Academic Affairs and a professor in the Department of Organizational Leadership, Policy, and Development at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.

Dr. Ropers received her Ph.D and M.S. in educational administration, with a concentration on higher education, from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her scholarship focuses on how educators create environments that are accessible to, nurturing of, and reliant on people in diverse communities. She also examines equity-oriented change, and race and gender in higher education.

Through placements at partner institutions, the ACE Fellows Program provides the opportunity for professional development and deep learning about important higher education issues. More than 80 percent of Fellows go on to serve as senior leaders of colleges and universities, including chief executive and academic officers, other cabinet-level positions, and deans.

During her six months at UC Santa Cruz, Ropers is interested in learning more about the university’s administrative structures, student activism on campus, and our partnerships with the local community. Rebecca Ropers can be reached through email at rropers@ucsc.edu.

Please join me in welcoming Rebecca to UC Santa Cruz.
