Indoor masking strongly encouraged for campus community members

UC Santa Cruz has been experiencing increased COVID-19 positivity rates, mirroring trends across the United States. Santa Cruz County, and much of the surrounding Bay Area, continue to be at the Medium level for community transmission, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

UC Santa Cruz strongly recommends that students, faculty, and staff wear masks indoors, especially in high-density spaces. Masks are still required for on-campus public transportation and in clinical settings, such as Student Health Services and at indoor COVID-19 testing sites.

Campus leaders are closely monitoring the number of COVID cases in Santa Cruz County and if conditions warrant, may require masking indoors at campus facilities.

Free surgical and KN95 masks are available at various campus locations.

Thank you for doing your part in practicing this healthy community behavior.
