I am pleased to announce the appointment of Jody Greene, Associate Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning (AVPTL) and Professor of Literature, as special advisor to the CP/EVC for educational equity and academic success. In the role of special advisor to the CP/EVC, AVPTL Greene will work with the CP/EVC and interim Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Success Jennifer Baszile to add the teaching and learning perspective and deepen the integration of the Student Success Task Force (SSTF) and the Student Success Steering Committee (SSSC). In this capacity, Jody will serve as co-chair of the SSSC (with Jennifer Baszile) and will join the SSTF.
As part of the collaboration between the SSSC and SSTF, Jody will support academic leadership to understand, identify, and develop divisional plans for closing equity gaps. These plans will include goals and timelines for progress. In addition to divisional plans, Jody will consult closely with the relevant academic leaders, as well as with the Senate leadership and relevant Senate committee chairs, to propose basic guidelines and specific strategies for recognizing efforts to promote educational equity as part of the academic personnel review process.
Through her successes as the founding director of CITL, Jody has demonstrated her knowledge, expertise, and organizational and institutional acumen at driving forward critically important campus initiatives. I am delighted that she has agreed to serve in this capacity of special advisor as we work toward our shared goal of advancing student success and ensuring educational equity.
