Annual notice on responsible employees

To: UC Santa Cruz Community

From: Isabell Dees, AVC of Equity & Equal Protection (Title IX Coordinator)

UC Santa Cruz strives to be a safe and equitable place for students, staff, and faculty. The Title IX Office plays a critical role by fostering a campus climate in which members of our community are protected from all forms of sex discrimination, including sexual harassment, sexual violence, and gender-based harassment and discrimination. Sexual violence and sexual harassment have no place on our campus. This is a shared responsibility and we are grateful to all of you who have collaborated, consulted, and supported this work.

Support

The Title IX Office will respond quickly to reports, can provide safety and supportive measures as needed, and can work with the complainant to determine how to proceed. By reporting to Title IX, you can help us connect with parties that are in need of resources and support, and provide us with important information for addressing safety concerns on campus.

We would like to emphasize to all staff and faculty that the goal of the Title IX Office at UC Santa Cruz is is to protect our students, staff, and faculty from sexual violence and sexual harassment, and sex based discrimination while ensuring a fair process for all involved.

Title IX is a resource for staff and faculty as well as students. You can report to Title IX to receive support or to assist others in gaining support from our office. Our ultimate goal is to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for learning, teaching, research, and working. You can find more information about resources and options on our website here.

Report

All employees that are not confidential, are required to report to Title IX if they learn about sexual violence or sexual harassment which involves a student. Supervisors must also report if an employee shares possible misconduct under the SVSH Policy or impact. We have an online reporting form that you can use to fulfill your reporting responsibilities and ensure that we can respond quickly. You may also call our office at 831-459-2462.

Our office is more than happy to meet with you if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Isabel Dees
