Systemwide Review of Presidential Policy - Fee Policy for Graduate Student In Absentia Registration

To: UC Santa Cruz Community

From: Quentin Williams, Interim Vice Provost and Dean of Graduate Studies

The University of California Office of the President invites comments on a proposed Presidential Policy - Fee Policy for Graduate Student In Absentia Registration.

The Council of Graduate Deans proposed these revisions to formalize the existing practices that took place via the exception process, allowing certain students—those who specifically requested—to file for in absentia registration while working outside of the local campus area but within California. This change will allow UC to be more explicit about the conditions under which in absentia registration may be granted, provides equitable application, and allows campus-specific implementation.

The proposed policy is available online.
