Annual campus asbestos notice

To: UC Santa Cruz Community

From: Environmental Health and Safety

Many facilities at the University of California, Santa Cruz, contain asbestos in the building materials used in construction. The Campus Asbestos Notice contains general information about asbestos found on campus and is required by law to be provided to all employees. Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) assists the campus in complying with asbestos laws and regulations by assessing the potential risk from asbestos delamination and designing controls to mitigate potential asbestos exposure. EH&S maintains a comprehensive database with detailed information related to historical asbestos material surveys in buildings. If there is a question about a specific area not covered in a past survey, EH&S can conduct appropriate sampling to determine whether asbestos is present. If you suspect a material in your area may contain asbestos and it appears damaged or in disrepair, contact Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) at ehs@ucsc.edu.
