UC Santa Cruz is hosting the only information session for a global competition that aims to identify and implement sustainable and technology-driven solutions in the food chain.
The FoodTech Challenge information session is on Friday, Dec. 6 from 2:30–3:30 p.m. at the Bay Tree Building, Cervantes and Velasquez Conference Room.
FoodTech Challenge is a global competition that aims to identify and implement sustainable and technology-driven solutions across the food value chain that enhance the United Arab Emirates's food security and self-sufficiency at the national, community, and household levels. The competition is open to all. University students and early-stage start-ups with prior experience in technological applications in the food and agriculture sectors are especially encouraged to apply. Candidates can apply individually or form teams of up to four people.
A total prize pool of $1 million will be awarded across four winners.
The UC Santa Cruz info session will include challenge representatives as well as a panel discussion with Sue Carter, professor of physics, Narinder Kapany Professor of Entrepreneurship, provost for the Rachel Carson College, associate dean of the Division of Graduate Studies, and director of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurial Development.
