UC Santa Cruz has canceled Wednesday’s classes because of PG&E’s power outage, which is expected to begin at the main campus by 5 p.m. Wednesday. The information from PG&E has been variable and without knowing exact impacts and times, campus officials have decided that all classes on the main campus and Coastal Science Campus are canceled. We anticipate that the outage will also impact the Scotts Valley Center and 2300 Delaware.
We understand that, regardless of the campus power situation, that employees might be experiencing power outages at their homes. Managers should try to be flexible with employees. However, critical employees will be expected to come in to work. Employees should check with their manager or supervisor if they are uncertain if they are a critical employee or if they should report to work.
The campus is closely monitoring the situation and will share updates and information about campus services at ucsc.edu/status and on 459-INFO as more information becomes available.
Information on preparedness can also be found online.
