Campus provost and executive vice chancellor search

To: UCSC Campus Community

From: Cynthia Larive, UC Santa Cruz Chancellor

I am grateful that our current campus provost and executive vice chancellor stepped in to serve in an interim capacity starting in July 2019 (see announcement).

We are now launching a national recruitment for a permanent campus provost and executive vice chancellor. My thanks to Vice Provost for Academic Affairs Herbie Lee, who has agreed to chair the search advisory committee. We have retained the executive search firm Korn Ferry to assist us in the recruitment, and have formed a search advisory committee that includes faculty, staff, students, and a member of the UC Santa Cruz Foundation.

If you would like to apply or know anyone who might be interested, application materials and nominations may be sent to John Amer of Korn Ferry via

We anticipate finalists will visit campus during our winter quarter. For more information about the search, the job description, a list of the committee members, and a preliminary timeline, visit our search website.

I welcome your questions or comments via email at

This is a very important search for our campus and I look forward to your participation and input. Thank you for your commitment to the future of UC Santa Cruz.
