Starting Monday, August 26, you will access all UCSC Google Applications using your Gold Password. This means you will no longer be able to access UCSC Google Applications using your Blue password. UCSC Google Applications include: campus email (@ucsc.edu), calendar, drive (docs, sheets, forms) groups, sites, etc.
What to Expect on August 26
On Monday between 5:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., the change to log in with the Gold Password will take place. During this timeframe you will experience two things with your UCSC Google Account:

Interruption

The interruption will be brief, lasting only a few seconds

Authenticate with your Gold Password

Your UCSC email will prompt you to authenticate using your gold password - be sure you have your Gold Password handy!

How You Access Your Email

Web Browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge, IE) details of what you will experience are found here.

Email Client (Thunderbird, Apple Mail, O365, PostBox, Spark, etc.) or any application that accesses any Google Suite applications (LucidChart, etc.), details of what you will experience are found here.

Outlook Client - Outlook users will require a prerequisite step. Details of what you will experience are found here.
You only have to do these steps once. Afterwards, you’ll sign in to UCSC Google with your CruzID and Gold password. Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) will apply if you are enrolled or your deadline has passed.
Steps to Success
Follow these suggestions to make the switch from your Blue password to your Gold password as smooth as possible:

Know your Gold Password - many users save their passwords on their computers. For this change, you will need to type in your Gold password when you re-authenticate. Have it ready so you can enter it when requested.

Log in to your email using a Web Browser - Not sure how to navigate all of this change? Using a browser will take you immediately to your UCSC email account so you can stay productive - https://mail.google.com.
