Campus Site License for Microsoft Office

To: UCSC Community

From: Lisa Bono, Information Technology Services (ITS)

ITS is pleased to announce that in response to feedback, the campus has funded a site license for Microsoft Office 365. The new campus license provides Office for work or personal computers at no charge for all faculty and staff in addition to the already free license for students.

If you have Office 2016 or 2019 installed on your university-owned computer, you can continue to use it, but can now sign in to the Office 365 portal (using your CruzID and Gold password) to activate more features. ITS will continue to provide/install Office when setting up new computers and by request.

To install Office on a personally-owned computer, the Office 365 portal provides access to self-service software downloads of the Office 365 product suite. To access Office installers, sign into the portal at  https://portal.office.com/ using your CruzID and Gold password to download Office installers.

The ITS Office 365 web page has access information and other details about Office 365.

Office includes standard applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Student licenses include access to OneDrive storage, but faculty/staff do not have OneDrive and other online services enabled - please continue to use Google Apps and Google Drive for email, calendar, and cloud storage.

Licenses for Windows 10, Visio, Project, and other Microsoft products are not included with Office 365 and must be purchased separately.
