UC Santa Cruz will have a planned power outage from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. on June 22 as part of the solar parking canopy project in the East Remove Parking Lot. A list of the different impacts on campus buildings is below.
Please power down your computers, printers, equipment, and other devices. before 6 a.m. on June 22 in preparation for this power outage.
Also please note elevators will not be operational during this power outage.
Additionally, there will be another planned outage from from 7 a.m., Dec. 26 to 7 p.m., Dec. 30 to connect the photovoltaic system to the campus grid and perform testing. More information will be shared with the campus in advance of that outage.
Background
In an effort to reduce the campus’s carbon footprint, a two-megawatt solar parking canopy will be built at the East Remote Parking Lot. The new solar photovoltaic system will provide approximately 21 percent of the campus power demand.
The campus must design, install and test equipment at Slug Substation for the new solar photovoltaic system. In order to complete this work campus shut-downs are required.
