East Remote Lot Closure Over Winter Break (and other Winter Break tips)

To: UC Santa Cruz Community

From: Dan Henderson, Associate Director of Transportation and Parking Services

Winter break is quickly approaching and we wanted to alert you to an important change in parking during this time.

  • East Remote Lot (#104) and the adjacent Overflow 5 will be closed during winter break due to campus sustainability construction work. Vehicles parked in these lots during the closure are subject to citation and / or tow at owners expense.  You can read more about the project here.
    • As an alternative to leaving a vehicle in East Remote over winter break, utilize Overflow 4 (adjacent to East Remote) and West Remote Lot (#127). Please remember to remove all valuables from your vehicle.

For other winter break transportation and parking needs, please consider the following:

  • Bikes:  Check with your student housing office regarding bike storage options.  Remember to bring your bike, your U-Lock and your helmet when you return! Click here for UCSC Bike Program services and safety information.
  • Transportation choices for traveling home: Find out about transit, airporter and rideshare services accommodating travel to Los Angeles, the Bay Area and beyond.

  • UCPD Night Safety Escort Service - No service from 12/14 – 1/5.  UCSC Police will be on duty and can be reached at (831) 459-2231.
  • Parking permits - Permits are not required on the main campus from 12/24 – 1/1 EXCEPT in lots where permits are required at all times, in posted reserved parking spaces, or when parking attendants are present during a special event. Regular parking enforcement will be in place at all other times.
  • Be sure to double check and finalize your travel plans well ahead of time and allow for adverse traffic and weather conditions or other delays.

Have a great winter break!
