The campus community should know about two upcoming events that may impact traffic to and from campus.
Filming near the Crown College bus stop tonight (Wednesday) from 8 p.m. to midnight will close Hagar Drive from Steinhart to McLaughlin Drive.
The Crown Bus Stop will be closed during this time, while the uphill and downhill stops along Hagar—Bookstore, East Field House, East Remote, and the Village—will also be inaccessible by Metro routes.
Metro's routes through UC Santa Cruz will take slight detours through campus.
- After entering campus at the Bay/High intersection, even-numbered routes will continue up Coolidge Drive—bypassing the left turn onto Hagar—to McLaughlin Drive. Intermittent traffic control will hold traffic for about five minutes while filming is underway, after which vehicles will be allowed to proceed west through the Hagar and McLaughlin intersection.
- Odd-numbered routes will not be allowed to turn right onto Hagar Drive, but instead will experience the same five minute delays before being directed east along McLaughlin and onto Coolidge as they travel to leave campus at the Bay/High intersection.
The production company will also be filming scenes on High Street, which will require the closure of the street from Moore to Storey Streets from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17 to Tuesday, Sept. 18. Filming will continue through Friday, Sept. 21.
High Street will be closed to everyone, except for busses, bicycles, pedestrians and church affiliates. Filming may involve up to 4 minutes of intermittent traffic control.
Moore Street will remain open to all traffic.
Motorists should consider getting to and from the main campus of UC Santa Cruz using alternate routes, such as Bay Street or Empire Grade.
