Changes to the CruzNet wireless system July 30

To: UCSC Campus Community

From: Lisa Bono, Information Technology Services

On July 30, CruzNet will become a guest only WiFi service and be renamed to UCSC-Guest. This means guests who are visiting our campus can request temporary access to the Internet while at UCSC, including off-campus locations where CruzNet is available. Guests will be given one week of free Internet access and can re-up if they need to extend that time.

Since UCSC-Guest remains an open-access unencrypted wireless network, it should not be used for university work involving student records or other sensitive or confidential information. Students, staff, and faculty should always use the secure and encrypted wireless network eduroam or ResWiFi.

If you have questions, please submit an IT Request ticket at https://itrequest.ucsc.edu or contact the ITS Support Center by email help@ucsc.edu, telephone 459-HELP(4357), or in-person Kerr Hall Room 54.

Thank you.
