Campus hires new environmental health and safety director

To: UC Santa Cruz Community

From: Jean Marie Scott, Associate Vice Chancellor Risk and Safety Services

Following a nationwide recruitment, I am very pleased to announce that Lisa Wisser has been appointed director of the Office of Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) beginning April 15.

Lisa has served as the campus laboratory safety program manager and more recently, as the interim EH&S director. During this time, she has worked with many campus partners on a wide variety of projects. Lisa has more than 25 years of progressive experience leading environmental health and safety programs, with the past 10 years in a university setting. Her breadth of knowledge and expertise will bring critical leadership to our environmental health and safety programs, which are vital to supporting the mission of the university.

I want to thank the search committee members Stefani Khaleel (Chair), Bob Vitale, Brent Cooley, Justin Delamus, Rebecca Braslau, Diane Lamotte, Elise McCandless, and others who interviewed candidates and provided feedback.

Please join me in welcoming Lisa to her new position as EH&S director.
