Spring Spotlight now called 'Admitted Student Tours'

To: UC Santa Cruz Community

From: Blia Yang, Interim Director of Undergraduate Admissions

As you may already know, interest in UCSC is at an all-time high with over 67,000 applications for fall 2018. Thank you to everyone -- this success is due to the incredible work of the entire campus community.

This year we have a change to announce: the Office of Admissions will again host our on-campus visit program for admitted students, but instead of Spring Spotlight, we will call it Admitted Student Tours. The new name better represents our program, and it answers admitted students’ commonly asked question this time of year: Do you have tours?

Admitted Student Tours Dates: Friday, April 6 - Saturday, April 14, excluding Sunday, April 8

We expect over 7,000 visitors in the next few months, including many who will travel from another state or another country, and will be curious about our campus. Some guests may ask you questions, and your helpfulness and patience will affirm the positive qualities and character of the UCSC community. And when you happen upon individuals or groups that seem lost, I'd appreciate your help in pointing them in the right direction.

We'll begin notifying students of their admission beginning March 15, but in the meantime, if you have questions about these efforts, or if you see areas around campus that need attention, please contact Associate Director Beatrice Atkinson-Myers in Admissions (beatrice@ucsc.edu or 459-2352). For more information, a complete outline of campus spring yield events is available online.

Thank you in advance for your continued partnership yielding the best students for this fall's incoming class!
