Long delays expected on Highway 17 for emergency paving

Caltrans will perform emergency grinding and paving operations from Monday through Friday.

The work is necessary to repair parts of the road damaged by the winter storms. Motorists can expect delays of up to 30 minutes. Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway work zones.

This roadwork is being performed by the Caltrans Maintenance team in Santa Cruz.

The schedule is

Monday, June 12 through Thursday, June 15 near Scotts Valley

  • The southbound No. 2 (right) lane of Highway 17 from Summit Road to Vinehill Road will be closed from 7:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Friday, June 16 in Santa Cruz

  • The southbound No. 2 (right) lane of Highway 17 from Sims Road to Pasatiempo Drive will be closed from 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.
