The Lionel Cantú Queer Center will host a town hall with Chancellor George Blumenthal to give students an opportunity to discuss their concerns following a hate crime that campus police say targeted a student based on her gender and sexuality.
The town hall will be from 5:30–7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 22 at the Namaste Lounge at College Nine. Members of the gay, lesbian, trans, queer, intersex, and asexual (LGBTQIA+) community are invited to join to in the dialogue.
“This act of violence directed at a member of our UCSC family is in direct conflict with our values as an institution and our principles of community,” the center said in a statement released Thursday.
The Chancellor’s Office will provide a light dinner buffet.
