The UC Santa Cruz University Relations division received 10 awards in the 2016 Awards of Excellence through the professional organization CASE (the Council for Advancement and Support of Education), and also received a Grand Gold award, which is presented to truly exemplary Awards of Excellence submissions.
UC Santa Cruz's Grand Gold award was for Fiat Fifty: 2015 Founders Dinner. Also of special note, the two gold awards were for Fiat Fifty: 2015 Founders Dinner and the publication Fifty Things We’ve Learned Along the Way.
Among the 57 institutions that received recognition in the CASE western region (Arizona, California, Guam, Hawaii, Nevada, Northern Mariana Islands, and Utah), UC Santa Cruz tied for third place for the most awards.
Judges selected 195 gold, silver, and bronze winners from more than 500 entries for the 2016 Awards of Excellence. There were also six Grand Gold awards, given to the gold awards judged best among other golds in the category.
"Receiving recognition from our professional organization is wonderful validation of the work we have done this past year," said Keith Brant, vice chancellor for University Relations. "And, being singled out as one of six institutions to win the Grand Gold award is a testament to the outstanding teamwork in University Relations."
The rewards also reflect an exceptional campuswide collaborative effort. From TAPS to Procurement Services, Learning Technologies to University Catering, campus partners and the 50th Campus Coordinating Committee were integral to the success of Fiat Fifty.
The CASE Awards of Excellence program showcases best practices in alumni relations, fundraising, public/government relations, advancement services, special events, and outstanding communications. Experts from all disciplines throughout the district judge the entries in more than 70 categories and select the gold, silver, and bronze winners for each category.
University Relations is UC Santa Cruz's central office for communications and marketing, alumni relations, philanthropy, government and community relations, special events, and data services.
