UC Santa Cruz ranks No. 12 on a Time magazine list of universities that have diversified the most since 1990.
To compile the ranking, Time looked at the percentage of undergraduate students at each institutions who were not part of the school's largest racial group and how that changed between 1990 and 2014.
UC Santa Cruz saw the percent of Hispanic/Latino students grow from 12 percent to 32 percent and the percent of Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders go from 12 percent to 21 percent.
The ranking looked at nonprofit private and public degree-granting universities.
