The UC Santa Cruz Arboretum's annual Gift and Wreath Sale will be held on Saturday and Sunday, November 21 and 22, in conjunction with an Open House at Norrie's Gift and Garden Shop. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days, with early access for Arboretum members only from 9 to 10 a.m. The sale takes place at the Horticulture II Building.
For this eagerly anticipated sale, Santa Cruz County artists join forces with Arboretum volunteers to produce one-of-a-kind living and dried floral wreaths, floral centerpieces, and other artwork, drawing upon the Arboretum's extraordinary collections for living succulents and dried plant materials. From the amazing Australian collection to South African proteas, the Arboretum has a world of materials to choose from. Wreaths will be available in a wide range of styles, from traditional to avant-garde.
Norrie's Open House will be held during the store's normal business hours, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. Norrie's will feature many new items purchased with holiday shoppers in mind, including ceramics, jewelry, scarves, books, toys, and garden art. Locally produced Mutari hot chocolate and delicious savory teas will be available to sample and purchase. David Casterson, who wrote and illustrated In the Company of Redwoods, a unique book highlighting 50 plants found in association with coastal redwoods, will sign books from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 21.
Arboretum members receive a 10 percent discount at Norrie's. This discount does not apply to purchases made at the Wreath and Gift Sale. For more information about the sale, contact the UCSC Arboretum at (831) 427-2998 or visit the Arboretum's web site or Facebook page.
