As Chair for the Assistant Vice Chancellor Staff Human Resources (AVC SHR) Search Committee, I am writing to invite your participation in the interview process for this position.
Reporting directly to the Vice Chancellor of Business and Administrative Services (BAS), the Assistant Vice Chancellor, Staff Human Resources (AVC SHR) is the chief staff human resources officer (CHRO) at UCSC in a time of significant organizational change. Working with senior leadership, the AVC SHR will lead, develop and manage progressive human resources services, programs and systems aligned with the university mission of teaching, research and public service. The AVC SHR will establish the direction, policies and procedures of the Staff Human Resources unit and represent the campus at UC system-wide meetings. Areas of responsibility/oversight include talent acquisition, benefits administration, time and attendance/payroll, business systems administration, employee and labor relations, compensation, policy, training and professional development. With the implementation of the new system-wide payroll and HR information system UCPath, the AVC SHR will be responsible for aligning campus HR service delivery with the system-wide structure.
Four finalists for the position of AVC SHR will be visiting the UCSC campus during the first two weeks of November 2015. As a member of our campus community, I invite you, or your designee, to participate in each of the candidate open forum sessions that are outlined below. Your participation will give you the opportunity to meet the final candidates and provide input on their candidacy.
