Reopening of Stevenson parking lots 109, 110 delayed due to construction impacts

To: UC Santa Cruz Community

From: John Barnes, Campus Architect, Associate Vice Chancellor Physical Planning and Construction

After a relatively successful start, the Gully G Detention Basin project near Stevenson College experienced a setback in early September. Some of the large, precast concrete vaults were built incorrectly and rejected by the University after being installed. Work has recently started again, but the mistakes have resulted in a delay of nine weeks.

Every possible effort will be made to complete the work and fully reopen the lower Stevenson parking lots (Lots 109 and 110) before the beginning of Winter Quarter. However, there are unknowns (such as weather) that can affect the schedule.

The project team understands the importance of these lot re-openings and takes this responsibility very seriously. Short of full re-opening, every effort will be made to at least free up any additional spaces possible.

We thank you for your patience and apologize for the unexpected difficulties which have impacted our schedule.
